Blue cornflower sourdough

Blue cornflower sourdough💙🌾

Blue cornflower or 'vasiliok' is my home country symbol, this flower is like a soul of Belarus. That's why when I saw some bakers using dry flowers for their bread dough, I decided to try it as well with a cornflower💙

It was such a fun for kids to laminate the dough and sprinkle bright dry cornflowers on top of it🥰 It looked really beautiful! The beauty of sourdough is one of the reasons for me why I enjoy so much working with bread dough!

This time I used a higher percent of white whole wheat flour than I usually use, at about 30-35%. I wanted the bread to look and taste more rustic.

After a cold overnight retard the dough smelled fantastically due to the wonderful smell of flowers. After baking the flowers changed their colour, they became more pale purple, so blue flowers on the photo - I sprinkled a little bit of them on top of the bread just for the photo. The taste of the bread didn't change, it just got more interesting and rich aroma.

What about you, have you already tried flowers in your bread? Will be glad to know about your experience😉🙌
